If your application shows ‘Rejected’, it does not always mean permanent disqualification. Below is the complete list of official rejection reasons and how to appeal or reapply successfully.
Common rejection reasons
Reasons displayed by the KMUT portal:
- Family annual income exceeds ₹2.5 lakh (as per PDS records)
- Family owns a 4-wheeler registered in TN transport database
- Applicant is a government employee / pensioner
- Family owns more than 5 acres wet / 10 acres dry land
- Electricity consumption above 3,600 units per year
- Applicant not registered as head of family on ration card
- Duplicate application from same family
- Aadhaar-ration card name mismatch
How to appeal or reapply
You have the right to appeal within 30 days:
- Log in to kmut.tn.gov.in with your acknowledgement number
- Click ‘Appeal against Rejection’
- Upload supporting documents (updated ration card, income certificate, etc.)
- Submit and note the appeal reference
- Alternatively, file appeal in person at Taluk office
Documents that strengthen your appeal
Include as many as apply to your case:
- Fresh Income Certificate from Tahsildar (< 6 months old)
- Updated ration card showing you as head
- Bank statement showing no high-value transactions
- Death / divorce certificate (if applicable)
- Property extract (patta / chitta) proving land holding is within limit
